Purpose
This property in Birmingham required the installation of an Automist® water mist fire suppression system to satisfy building regulations due to the stairs terminating directly into the ground floor dining room and the loft being converted to a habitable space by specialist loft conversion company, Charles Grosvenor Lofts.
Approach
After a thorough site survey, Firemist produced a design for the installation of two Automist® spray heads to protect the open plan ground floor escape route from the stairs to the front door final exit point.
The high-pressure hoses and control cables were installed with minimal disruption and connected to the Automist® pump installed under the stairs. Firemist installed the electrical supply in 2.5mm² Fp200 fire-resistant cable and the mains water supply was installed as part of this turnkey project.
Full commissioning of the Automist® system was carried out to verify system performance and correct operation.
Outcome
The loft conversion is now finished and Complete Building Control Ltd has issued a completion certificate for all of the works carried out as part of this project.
Firemist completed the installation of this Automist® system in two days, ensuring workmanship was to the highest standard with minimal disruption whilst the works were carried out.
